Aspectos positivos: Fantastic apartment in a great location. There was an issue with the apartment on arrival, due to external factors out of their control , however Manuel and Gema were amazing in resolving the issue and keeping us informed.

Gorgeous apartment centrally located
Aspectos positivos: Superb location, in the heart of Madrid. The apartment is beautifully decorated and spacious.
Aspectos negativos: Saturday night could be a bit noisy in the living room, and maybe in the main bedroom. Not something that really bothered.

Modern, Comfortable, and Lots to do Nearby
Aspectos positivos: We loved this place! We are a family of seven and previously had stayed in Chueca on the first weekend of our trip. We stayed at Loreto y Chicote on our last weekend in Madrid. The neighborhoods are adjacent, but very distinct (more on that later). We loved the modern spaciousness of this apartment. It was suprising to see how it was laid out, and we appreciated the thoughtful touches and modern decor. We took advantage of the kitchen and cooked dinner, which was a nice experience after traveling and eating at restaurants for 8 days. There's a 24-hour Carrefour just a few blocks away on Gran Via. The apartment is super clean, the A/C is COLD and easy to use. There is a huge TV screen in the living room and possibly one in every room. The bathrooms are spacious and the showers were really nice. All of this made for a comfortable, and unique stay. The hosts are kind and super communicative - we were grateful for their help when we arrived.
Aspectos negativos: The place itself is top-notch - no complaints at all. There is one bedroom all the way on the bottom floor, which is a bit small for two people, but we made it work. I don't mind stairs, but if stairs are an issue, then just know that there are stairs to get to the bedrooms. The main complaint I have has nothing to do with the apartment at all. When we arrived, we walked from the main Gran Via metro stop, and Google Maps took us down Calle de la Ballesta through the red-light district, with lots of women loitering right on the corner of the street, half a block from the apartment. It's a ground-floor apartment, which felt a bit conspicuous and not super safe after walking through the gauntlet of women - and this was in broad daylight. I have four young daughters and a teenage son, and am slightly paranoid about these things. After navigating that corner awkwardly for the first day and night, we discovered that if we approach the apartment from the opposite end of the street - basically coming from Gran Via by way of the Carrefour, up Corr. Baja de San Pablo, then it felt a lot safer. Bonus: that street has tons of really cool shops and boutiques, and vintage clothing stores. There is a police station about two blocks away on that side. The apartment has two sliding metal gates to protect it from intruders, and we all felt super safe once we were inside. I know that doesn't matter to a lot of people, so I want to end on a positive note about this place: if what I just described about the red light district doesn't faze you then I think you'll really enjoy staying here because we were very comfortable. I also feel that if we had approached the apartment from the other direction from the beginning it would have been a totally different experience that first day and night. I feel that if I knew that it was close to the red-light district ahead of time then I could have prepared myself to handle it better.
